The Children’s Society’s Data Services Team is vital to ensuring that we use our data and systems to build the best possible engagement with all of our supporters.

We are seeking a dynamic, customer-focused manager with a passion for data and databases to drive a “whole supporter” approach that will increase income generation and improve the effectiveness of our campaigning.

You will deliver a suite of high quality data services including data selections, reporting, analysis and data imports to time, budget and specification - constantly satisfying and regularly delighting stakeholders across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Raiser’s Edge (our supporter database) and the FastStats analysis tool. Experience of working with and even streamlining SQL Server Integration Services packages to import data files into Raiser’s Edge would also be desirable.

This is a key role in establishing a sector-leading approach to Supporter Relationship Management. It is essential that you have a natural curiosity with good written and communication skills to accompany your excellent technical and analytical abilities.

Job Purpose

To ensure that comprehensive data services (reporting, analysis, data selections and data imports) are delivered according to time, budget and specification to the satisfaction of internal stakeholders.

To be responsible for maintaining the data integrity of all supporter databases and data marts.
To ensure that all users are empowered to use the supporter database in line with agreed protocols.
To identify gaps in our data and implement activities to rectify this.
To ensure that current and future technology solutions meet data and insight requirements.
To be an advocate for using data and insights in a more strategic manner.

Key Activities

Manage the Data Services Team, supporting and developing team members.
Manage the timely and accurate delivery of data extracts for all outbound “mass communications”. In doing this, ensure that an organisation-wide schedule of all such communications is up-to-date and accessible for all stakeholders.
Ensure that all data from external sources (eg. telemarketing agencies, fulfilment houses) is loaded into the database in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensure that data entry, maintenance and cleaning are performed to the highest standards, delivering the data structures needed by all internal users across the organisation.
Establish and report the team’s performance against clear and challenging service level agreements for all services delivered to internal stakeholders.
Manage the development and maintenance of a suite of regular reports and management information that meet teams’ needs and enable the monitoring of organisational indicators.
Build relationships with teams across the organisation in order to facilitate the delivery of first class database marketing services.
Work closely with the Senior Supporter Services Manager in ensuring the SRM database is up-to-date and best meets the needs of the organisation.
In partnership with the Supporter Insight Manager, ensure that accurate and intuitive database analysis tools and reports are made widely available to enhance our understanding of all supporter types.
Identify and co-ordinate the database development needs of the organisation and liaise with the IT team and/or external suppliers in order to schedule and supervise their implementation.
Advocate the principles of good data management within the Data Services team and throughout The Children’s Society.
Champion a supporter-centred approach across all our work.
