Atkins is one of the world's leading design, engineering and project management consultancies.  Our core skills lie in the expansive area of infrastructure – the wiring of society - encompassing buildings, transport and utilities as well as work for national and local governments, and other industrial clients.

The Business Analysis unit works in the water and energy infrastructure sectors and is looking for experienced technical, commercial or economic consultant to work in our reform and transaction advisory services team, which operates worldwide.

Job Details

Business Analysis initially focussed on the water industry, but positive marketing initiatives have moved our services into a cross-utility environment, with increasing work and opportunities in energy, as well as water.  Our work is undertaken in developed (including UK) and developing countries and is diverse, including:
technical, commercial and environmental due diligence on transactions for vendors, purchasers and re-financing;
regulatory audits of operational performance and investment plans, including benchmarking;
advising on institutional and regulatory reform and restructuring;
investment feasibility studies and tariff studies;
PPP – including project development, preparation and transaction advice
economic and financial modelling, and asset and business valuations;
utility master plans, investment plans, O&M plans and business plans; and
strategic asset management.
We are interested in candidates who are motivated by the opportunity to support the expansion of our business.  The ideal candidate will have significant experience of winning, managing and delivering projects in the energy or water sectors in the above areas, and with capability in one or more of our core areas of technical, commercial and economic.
The position is based in our Epsom office, but candidates must be open to frequent international travel and periods of time abroad.

Responsibilities

directing, managing and delivering projects in the above areas;
identifying, generating and developing business opportunities and market propositions;
maintaining compliance with Atkins’ corporate processes;
providing thought leadership; and
developing and maintaining a network of contacts within Atkins, and with prospective clients and potential partners organisations.


Requirements

extensive experience in water and/or energy sectors, in UK and beyond;
experience in one or more of infrastructure regulation, due diligence, feasibility studies, project preparation or lenders’/owners’ engineer work;
track record in winning and successfully managing delivery of projects in various countries, ideally including developing countries;
outstanding consulting skills - including research and analysis, structured thinking, report writing and stakeholder communication;
an influencer, with a network of contacts that can support the development and delivery of work;
experience of establishing and leading multi-disciplinary teams;
self-motivated, with the initiative and resilience to support the growth of our business
degree, and preferably Masters, in a relevant subject area; and
openness to frequent international travel and periods of time abroad.
