Young Hackney is not just about improving partnership relationships and better integration of services. It is a fundamental shift in culture and principles and the way we work with young people. It has been developed around the principle of Young Hackney Units which are small, self directed, multi-skilled work teams that bring together the skills and competencies of the former Youth Service, Youth Support and Youth Offending Teams.
The Role
Expertise is shared and the emphasis is on creative and effective solutions that bring us closer to our goal of providing individualised opportunities and support for young people and their families.
The role will be the link between Young Hackney and the council’s ‘Ways into Work’ Team. Ways into Work (WiW) is Hackney Council’s flagship employment and skills programme supporting unemployed Hackney residents into employment.
Responsibilities
The Employment Advisor will be responsible for the attraction, registration and progression of young people and their families into employment. You will also use a variety of techniques to provide information, advice and guidance to achieve sustainable employment. The focus will be on intensive one-to-one holistic support for the client and therefore you should be able to create a rapport and build relationships with young people and families
The Individual
You should have strong consultative, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills including the ability to deal with complex issues in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
You should have a good understanding of key local growth sectors and the barriers faced by unemployed Young People and their families in accessing the job market.
Additional Information
This is for a one year fixed-term contract / secondment. Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check at enhanced level is required.
