Macmillan Development Manager (Kent and Medway)

Joining a high-performing team, this is an exciting secondment opportunity to take responsibility for service development and for key relationships with our public and voluntary sector partners across Kent and Medway whilst the current postholder is on maternity leave.

A role of broad and challenging scope, the rewards are great, as you will directly influence creative, innovative and sustainable service improvement for people affected by cancer.

You will negotiate, develop and support new Macmillan posts and services, represent our interests in the appointment of Macmillan professionals, and advise our partners to ensure the views of patients and their families are central to the service development process. You will also contribute to the review of existing services to ensure these meet agreed objectives.

Self-motivated, resilient and effective in the face of complexity, you will apply well-honed planning skills, sensitivity to context and the ability to share informed intelligence in order to overcome barriers, resolve problems and deliver our strategic plan. To succeed will require relevant management, service and quality development experience within the NHS or an equivalent statutory or voluntary organisation dealing with health or social care. Demonstrable appreciation of the differing roles of the statutory and voluntary sectors in this field must be complemented by a developed understanding of the need to adapt ways of working for each.

Interviews will take place in mid February.

The post will start mid April 2013.
