Runnymede college is a private non-denominational British school in Madrid offering a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of three to eighteen. The education offered follows the British National Curriculum. 
The successful applicant will have:
  • A good degree from a British university
  • A PGCE from a British university
  • Previous experience of international schools will help but not essential
  • A working knowledge of common software
  • Must be a native English speaker but no knowledge of Spanish is require
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Responsibility for the running of the class, ensuring a good level of classroom organisation.
2. To take steps to ensure familiarisation with, and understanding of the agreed aims and policies of the school and to ensure that they are fostered within the classroom.
3. Develop a close working relationship with the parallel class teacher and also the Support Teacher in order to ensure that planning is carried out effectively.
4. Develop a close working relationship with the teaching assistant, planning and organising effective use of this member of staff within the classroom to support the children's learning.
5. Establish a stimulating, well organized and challenging classroom environment to promote independent and collaborative learning.
6. Ensure high standards of work and display.
7. Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils by on going observations.
8. Ensure effective planning and record keeping.
9. Maintain good order and discipline within the classroom, ensuring good behaviour management strategies.
10. Review and keep a check on the supply of equipment, resources and other relevant material in the classroom.
11. To carry out the general duties of a teacher as laid down in the ‘General Information for Teachers’ (available to short listed candidates).
12. Ensure a high level of health and safety at all times.
13. Assist in the organisation of important events which concern the Year group, such as Sports Day, the outings and the preparation of a Year group production.
14. To be available for after school staff meetings with colleagues, held every week, to discuss such matters as pupils’ progress and school self review.
15. Ensure effective communication and consultation with parents as well as producing termly reports and being available for after school Parent/Teacher meetings held three times a year.
16. You will also be expected to attend staff meetings, departmental meetings and parent teacher meetings. You will also be expected to do lunch duty.
