Job description
The Trust services a population of approximately 250.000 residing in the surrounding area. Employing 2,300 staff, the hospital provides the wide array of services including general and specialist medicine, general and specialist surgery and full Consultant led obstetric and paediatric hospital services for women, children and babies.
The Emergency Medicine Department provides 24-hour service. Last year the Department saw around 78.000 new patients and 7.000 follow up clinic patients. Currently the Department has 6 Consultants and is well supported by Middle Grade and Junior doctors as well as nursing staff.
As the Specialty doctor in Emergency Medicine you are expected to participate in full shift system in order to provide 24-hour shop floor clinical cover. You will also take part in teaching junior doctors and other medical staff, Medical Audit and designated management commitments as agreed with the Clinical Supervisor.
In return you will be appointed as a full time Emergency Medicine Specialty doctor and will be expected to integrate within the existing team in order to provide a complete and high quality, Emergency Medicine service.
In order to be considered for this position is it essential for candidates to have at least 3 years of post registration experience in Emergency Medicine, full registration with the GMC or be eligible for the registration, higher qualification (MCEM, FRCS, MRCS, MRCP, FRCA) or equivalent.
