Java Developer - Hampshire 
£39000-£44000

Job summary: 

An exciting job opportunity has arisen for an experienced Java Developer to join our Hampshire based client, a global organisation that acquires and develops business software.

Working as part of large dynamic development team your primary responsibility will be to maintain, enhance and evolve Java products. You will be expected to be capable of quickly understanding and working on existing code and working on new enhancement projects using typical RUP and OO development techniques. 

Key Responsibilities
· To carry out development tasks as allocated to the highest standards of quality and performance.
· To take responsibility for the production of realistic estimates for all allocated tasks.
· To provide timely notification of changes to estimates.
· To manage the dependencies (within limits of authority) of all allocated tasks. 
· To take ownership of designated packages / layers of the software architecture and ensure that the architectural integrity of those packages / layers are maintained.
· To ensure that language and porting implications are considered for all development tasks.
· To maintain an in-depth understanding of products and development methodologies, standards and processes.
· To be proactive in the investigation and implementation of new techniques and tools that could be used to improve development.
Required Technical Skills:
· Proven commercial experience using Java, J2EE.
· Development experience in XML and XSL.
· Object Oriented Analysis and Design, preferably using UML.
· Mid-level, detailed experience of OO development using Java.
· Demonstrable understanding of iterative development techniques.
· MS SQL Server and/or Oracle database experience.

Desirable skills and experience:
· Computer Science or related degree.
· C# competence.
· Web development experience using HTML, Javascript, CSS or Google Web Toolkit.
