WWY@CYT are seeking enthusiastic and motivated staff to join our Social Care team within City of York Council to provide support to people within Elderly Peoples Homes.

·         To assist care staff when required, to carry out personal care for residents who may be resistant, ie: assisting them to get up, go to bed, dressing and undressing, eating, washing, bathing and going to the toilet.

·         To undertake tasks in the kitchen and dining areas ie: laying and clearing tables, serving meals and washing up.

·          To prepare light meals, snacks and refreshments.

·          To undertake tasks in the laundry including washing, ironing and occasional sewing.

·         Following training, the operation of powered electrical equipment and use of cleaning materials.

·         To undertake general cleaning throughout all areas of the home and to ensure that a high standard of hygiene is maintained.

·         To assist care staff when required to accompany residents who may be reluctant to attend, on appointments ie: hospital, GP, dentist and opticians.

·         To be able to work on own initiative, as well as part of a team and to attend staff meetings.

·          At all times maintain confidentiality of customers in line with CYC policy and procedure.

Candidates will need to be available at short notice on an ‘as and when’ basis.

Work is subject to references, a successful induction, an occupational health check and a DBS check.  As casual roles, work can not be guaranteed and applicants should be aware that work will be offered on an adhoc basis.

All roles will be subject to a CRB check.
