Housing Advice Officer (Homelessness) 

£15-20 per hour 

North West Local Authority 

An exciting opportunity has arisen in a North West based Local Authority for an experienced Housing Advice Officer to join their Homelessness team initially for 3 months, with a view for extension. 

You will be expected to manage a caseload of clients, which will be identified via both multi-channel agency as well as self referral; carrying out homes visits, completing investigations on all active applications and meet targets within the performance framework. 

You will be in regular contact with both internal and external multi-channel partnerships and organisations including mortgage and other lenders in a bid to prevent homelessness; with housing officers regarding the suitability of housing for all homeless households on the housing list; and with the Accommodation Manager and officers on all matters relating to homeless applicants requiring temporary accommodation. 

You will be well versed with Part VII of the 1998 Housing Act (as amended in 2002); and also have knowledge and understanding of part VI, as you will be liaising and negotiating with RSLs as well as Private Rented Landlords in order to secure accommodation for homeless people. You will be working in a very busy team and will be responsible for providing an excellent customer focused housing service to all service users.
