There are few things which are likely to have more impact on a young person's future than the quality of the school they attend. So we work hard to ensure that everyone who sends their child to the BSN is happy with that choice.
The education we provide is a holistic one which allows us to develop the whole person both as an individual and as a team player within the community. We foster confidence and intellectual curiosity and provide opportunities to develop creative abilities and personal talents. With our international setting we instil, in all our students, open-mindedness, tolerance, integrity and an enjoyment of life.
We are very lucky to have an enthusiastic and highly professional body of staff who fill the vision with life and promote excellence in all aspects of the school. If you are motivated by these beliefs then please read on.
We are looking for a well-qualified, experienced and inspirational ICT teacher to lead the school through its next phase of development of our computing and information technology curriculum.
We are a 1 to 1 iPad school and, as such, you will be expected to develop the use of mobile technology in your teaching to enhance student learning and creativity. There will also be opportunities to develop this new and exciting use of technology with parents and staff and to work with the Director of e-Learning to help embed it across all areas of the school.
ICT is taught as a discrete lesson at KS3 and is part of the Enrichment programme at KS4. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the direction of our ICT curriculum at KS3, KS4 and Post 16. For the right candidate there is also the possibility for this role to be as a subject leader.
At KS3 we currently teach ECDL (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Windows), programming using a range of software (e.g. Scratch), the British Computer Society's e-Safety course, Photoshop and digital literacy (video and images).
At KS4 ICT Is offered as an enrichment option. Whilst there is a degree of flexibility, this currently comprises a range of options including using the Adobe software packages and computer programming.
We have previously offered a number of ICT courses at KS5 and are currently reviewing post-16 options, including A Level Computing and the IB. The successful candidate would be expected to help lead and inform in this process.
The emphasis is not only on ensuring our students develop excellent, transferable ICT skills, relevant to the modern work-place, but that they develop their creativity, tenacity and above all, a desire to learn.
Candidates should have Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent) with a minimum of two years’ teaching experience. The successful candidate will be fluent in the English language, have a flexible approach to their role and, ideally, have experience of the ICT curriculum in the U.K.
