We’re looking for a client focused Professional Support Lawyer who’s an experienced housing litigator. You will take on a challenging new role that will enable us to continue to grow and develop our legal services.

Our legal team has over 100 fee earner and support staff, including 45 solicitors. We deliver the highest quality housing advice and litigation services from our network of over 20 offices around the country. As we continue to grow, we now need to recruit a Lawyer to provide expert housing law and consultancy and support.

Your key responsibilities:

Maintaining, updating and disseminating our housing law precedents, templates and materials
Managing the team’s knowledge and research, facilitating case work and providing know-how, training and resources to colleagues
Keeping your expert knowledge of housing law, litigation, civil procedure and legal aid up-to-date
Overseeing the production of Shelter’s commercial legal products
And what you’ll need:

Impressive post-qualification experience of housing litigation and representing in court on behalf of homeless people or those in housing need
A proven ability to handle a wide range of housing cases, both public and private, on issues such as homelessness, security of tenure and possession proceedings
A sound knowledge of Legal Aid work, plus experience of training, development and knowledge management in a housing law environment
Excellent communication and relationship building skills, resilience, a proactive approach and the ability to think laterally and challenge the ‘status quo’
