Based in South Bristol my client is a small 11-16 Academy Converter with around 800 pupils currently on roll. From September, the Head Teacher is seeking a dynamic and talented Science NQT to join their thriving Science Department.
You will be joining a friendly and knowledgeable team and will be very well supported throughout your NQT year and the first step of your career. Science is a very successful department within the school, teaching a range of different courses. In 2012, 99% of Year 11 students gained the equivalent to a C in Science and 96% gained at least 2 Cs.
The school benefits from fantastic facilities, with the science department being housed within a purpose built building equipped with 7 custom-built laboratories as well as two Science prep rooms and a Science work room. Science is currently taught at KS3 as a 2-and-a-half year course, using a custom made scheme of work that is regularly updated. At KS4 pupils are taught Edexcel Science, Additional Science and Further Additional Science, as well as BTEC in Applied Science.
Being a Newly Qualified Teacher, the school understand you will need support and are more than happy to provide this.
The successful applicant will:
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and have a real interest in science.
- Have an ability to teach Science at Key stages 3 and 4 to all levels and abilities, including examination subjects.
- Show evidence from teaching or teaching practices of the ability to obtain work of a high standard using assessment to inform future planning.
- Be personable and enthusiastic
- Be a team player
- Have experience working (placements or experience) within an inner city school
