Part-time: 
20 hours
10:30am-2:30pm Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday
12pm – 4pm Thursdays (Therapy Centre and Weston-S-Mare)

Salary: £7.50 - £9.00p/h (experience dependent)
Must be aged 18+ as you will be providing Personal Care.

We are looking for Physiotherapist Assistant with experience of working with people with MS and the ability to provide high quality support.
 
As a member of our team you will help people who have difficulties with their daily activities in the Centre and support therapy staff to ensure that Centre Users get the most from their visit.

Reports to: Senior Physiotherapist

To undertake duties under direction and guidance of Senior staff in accordance with agreed programmes of care and promoting high quality of service.To assist the Centre Users in any way whilst on Centre premises, as required. To liaise with other members of staff and exchange information to ensure the safety, comfort and wellbeing of Service Users and carers using the Centre, and to promote their optimum benefit.

Responsibilities
·         To support the Physiotherapists when required in the provision of treatment to the Service User and to be prepared to be trained and to use the different equipment.
·         To support the Senior Physiotherapist in the exercise classes which currently take place in Weston-Super-Mare on a Thursday afternoon.
·         To become trained in manual handling techniques, and in the use of relevant equipment.
·         To assist service users who need help with getting in and out of their cars when arriving or leaving the Centre.
·         To assist with dressing, undressing, washing, and toileting if required.
·         To help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
·         To liaise with external care staff if required over the care of service users.
·         To contribute to the efficient running of the Centre and the creation of an atmosphere conductive to the best care for service users.
·         Assist service users with their personal care needs and help to provide attention through direct care as needed.
·         To comply with the Centres guidelines and policies at all times.
·         To ensure all day to day paperwork is completed in line with Centre Policies and Procedures and to maintain the necessary records.
·         To develop, maintain and update a Personal Development Plan.
·         Help to ensure that the preparation, and serving of food meetsthe required standards.
·         To make and serve light meals such as a sandwich; feed service users who need help.
·         Help to ensure that common spaces are properly cleaned and maintained.
·         Participate in staff meetings and in staff training and development activities.
·         Support the Registered Manager in their duties as the "responsible officer" under the Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974 and the fire regulations, as directed.   
·         To identify own training needs, and attend both in house and external training as agreed by the Physiotherapy lead and or Centre Manager.
·         To inspect and launder equipment and clothing as necessary.
·         To report to Senior staff any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.
·         To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.
·         To carry out any other tasks that may reasonably be assigned to you by Senior Staff.

·         Self motivated, organised flexible and reliable.
·         Caring and sensitive to the needs of others.To be discreet and tactful.
·         Understand the necessity for confidentiality.
·         An active team player but also able to work under own initiative, self-motivated.
·         Understand the role of teamwork in providing a quality service.
·         Good written and spoken communication skills.
·         The ability to stay calm under pressure.
·         An interest in the Centre and the work that takes place there.

All staff are required to respect the confidentiality of all matters that they might learn in the course of their employment. All staff are expected to respect the requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998.

All staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974.
