Job description
My client is a is a leading company in the supply and manufacture of clothing and footwear. Their long-standing experience and expertise in this industry, together with a highly professional and motivated team, enables them achieve the best results for their customers and ultimate profitability for the Company.
The ideal candidate will preferably have experience in the Safety Industry. The Candidate must have a proven track record in successful negotiation, supplier management and problem solving.
· To develop a range of certified safety wear which is fit for purpose, using factories to create designs along with regular comp shopping, competitor knowledge and research to ensure the ranges are kept fresh, up to date and suitable for all of our European sales teams. Ensure developments are constantly evolving and innovative materials and applications are being researched and used where possible.
· Full understanding of certification methods and implementation of any necessary regulations to ensure products meet EN standards.
· Understanding of high quality guidelines and the durability of products required within the workwear industry.
· Source new suppliers worldwide to ensure most effective supply base
· Visit factories worldwide where needed.
· Manage a worldwide supply base to ensure smooth running of order from the date it is replaced to the date it hits the warehouse. Tackling head on problems with quality, pricing, shipment, and ensuring resolutions are sought
· Negotiate to ensure that margins and profitability are maintained and improved, and that cash flow is maximised through effective terms
· Ensure the latest innovative materials and applications are being used and constantly research the market to see what is out there.
· Ensure all product certification is up to date and correct
· Manage portfolio and work with expeditors to ensure that products are placed with the most appropriate sources
· Hold and contribute in meetings and presentations to the European Sales Directors
· Manage a Critical Path to ensure that all new developments go through the correct process and are signed off at every stage leading to a gold seal sample, thus ensuring no delays in product launch
· Be able to analyse reports and make judgements on actions to be taken to ensure most effective supply base.
Safety
· To create develop and maintain a range of certified Hi Vis, FR and PPE products, ensuring all certification is up to date and accurate and all relevant legislation is understood and adhered to.
· Full understanding of certification methods and implementation of any necessary regulations to ensure products meet EN standards.
· Understanding of high quality guidelines and the durability of products required within the workwear industry. Understanding of fabrics and their performance levels to ensure highest quality possible.
· To seek new sources, new materials, fabrications and develop a range which is one step ahead of our competitors
· To liaise regularly with QC Director to ensure every single product has a certificate readily available before the launch date.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 2 years experience at Junior Buyer level with a proven track record.
· he successful candidate will have a buying background ideally in PPE however my client would look at a clothing /retail buying background
The candidate will have a proven track record in negotiation and supplier management
Far-East purchasing / procurement experience would be beneficial although not essential
As the role involves working alongside manufacturing it is important the candidate understands manufacturing processes
