Job description
Our lifeboat crews operate in the most extreme conditions. They depend on the lifeboats and equipment we provide them with 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We’re constantly looking at ways in which we can improve their performance, safety and reliability. That’s where you’ll come in – answering critical briefs that will involve you in aspects of their design, trial and support. Along with an appropriate engineering qualification, you’ll have experience relevant to the marine industry. A working knowledge and understanding of moorings design and inspection requirements as well as systems associated with RNLI Launch and Recovery equipment such as propulsion machinery, diesel engines, hydraulics and lifting equipment is essential, while CAD experience including 3D modelling is desirable. A strong team player able to rely on your engineering knowledge and skills to solve practical engineering problems whilst handling a demanding workload with changing priorities, you’ll be operating within a high profile department and liaising right across the organisation, including lifeboat stations as well as with external contractors and suppliers. Your commitment to helping us produce and evaluate innovative, practical and cost-effective engineering and design solutions will be key.
