Building futures in Walsall.

Children’s and young people’s services are changing fast in Walsall. With cross-party support and substantial investment, we’re revolutionising the way we enhance life chances and we’re poised to achieve some ambitious goals. The Department for Education has already noted our achievements and is using us as an example of transformation. You will lead us on our next steps to excellence.

Assistant Director – Access and Achievement

Up to £90k - Walsall

Putting young people’s views at the heart of decision-making, you will create real synergy with Headteachers to boost our School Improvement Strategy and Youth Justice Plan. Quite simply, we want every school to be good or outstanding and for every child to enjoy access to targeted support, positive activities and information, and appropriate advice and guidance. You will be the catalyst that brings our Children and Young People’s Plan to life – encouraging achievement, promoting inclusion, reducing reoffending and minimising antisocial behaviour.

Experienced, inspiring and inclusive, you will be ready to shape strategy whilst taking a hands-on approach to service delivery. Colleagues, education professionals and young people alike will recognise your credibility and embrace your ideas, and you will remain abreast of national best practice whilst having the confidence to do things your way. In short, you will build a team that builds better lives – and builds on our significant progress to date.
